WBAIS Newsletter  --  March 25, 2019

The hits keep coming. Last Wednesday's Purim Carnival was outstanding under perfect weather conditions, Friday brought us a smorgasbord of young scientists at the annual Science Fair, and today and Tuesday the high school play is guaranteed to be a hit.

High School and Middle School ended the third quarter on Friday, which means the final quarter begins tomorrow. It has been eleven weeks since the end of winter break, and three more to go before spring break. Clocks are moving forward next week and the season is turning--which also means that softball, baseball and tennis practices are underway and the pool will re-open on Thursday. The GAIA Second Hand Shop is on all this week, with thanks to all those who contributed items.

Next week brings International Day on Sunday, March 31, Robotics to Nationals Tuesday-Thursday April 2-4, and the Spring Band Concert on Wednesday. Note that the Annual General Meeting of the Board will occur next Monday, April 1, at a new time - 3:30 in the library.

With all that going on, it's also a great time to see the blossoms all over the country, from the deserts in the south to the Golan below a snow-covered Mt. Hermon. I know because I've been both places on Saturdays in the last few weeks and I highly recommend it while the days are cool and the heavy rains support unusually verdant hillsides and meadows.

Have a great week.

About Report Cards:

Report Cards will be sent home this Friday via direct email attachment and via a PDF document.

This coming report card will only have teacher comments for 1) all Q3 Exploratory classes and 2) classes in which students are earning a failing mark or a D letter grade. All other courses will report only letter grades this quarter due to our recent conferencing events. With that said, parents are always encouraged to contact teachers directly to learn more about classwork, work habits, or any other student concerns.

Our annual poetry night is coming up! This is an opportunity for you to share either your favorite piece or an original work. Performances can vary from rapping, to reading poems, to singing. This year, poetry night will take place on April 10 from 18:00 to 20:00. There will be a bus home that will stop at Beit Yehoshua, Hamaapalim/Yannait in Herzliya and Namir/Pinkas in Tel Aviv. There will be a nice set up on the quad and food will be provided! Hope to see you there :)

If you have any questions, contact Yahav Gilbai, Ben Fischer, Noa Nir, and Nalini Venugopal or any teacher in the English Department.
