WEEKDAY BOARDING AT WBAIS

Welcome to weekday boarding at WBAIS! This program was created to fill a need for an American high school education for students whose families reside a distance away from WBAIS, Even Yehuda.
Students live at a newly constructed home within walking distance of the school. During the week, the Director of Boarding Mary Wescott and on-site boarding parent Gideon Scher provide a warm and supportive home for the students living here, and ensure that they are happy, safe, involved, included, supported, and challenged.

The boarders have the best of both worlds. During the week, they have the stellar academic and extra-curricular programs that WBAIS has to offer without having to travel long distances each day. On weekends and holidays, they return to their family homes.

Who is in charge of the Weekday Boarding Program?

Mary Wescott, Director of Boarding

Mary Wescott has returned to WBAIS as the Director of Boarding and lives in the house with the boarding students. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education. In her last life chapter, she taught middle and high school math, including 23 years teaching at WBAIS. She is a highly regarded, accomplished educator with over 30 years experience.

Passionate about conservation and the environment, Mary has worked with many student groups around the world to raise awareness about pressing environmental issues. She will continue to inspire youth to take action to reduce their impact on the environment through school and community sustainability programs. Mary’s son was born and raised in Israel and attended WBAIS from 1st through 12th grade which gives her the unique perspective of the school and its programs from both a teacher’s and parent’s point of view. She continues to creates a safe, caring and nurturing “home away from home” for the boarding students while instilling values of kindness, honesty, mutual respect, and integrity within the boarding community.
